First impressions are tough. For me, I usually\u00a0wonder whether my clothes are right\u00a0when I meet someone new. Ta Da…right now\u00a0my attire is\u00a0perfect as\u00a0I am wearing my\u00a0favorite\u00a0plaid pajamas while I write\u00a0this blog for The Pajama Company.\u00a0Here is the\u00a0the story of my pajama passion.<\/p>\n

During\u00a0my college years, long flannel nightgowns were popular and I wore them for years.\u00a0While they hid a stomach full of late night pizza, they made me look like an over sized Wendy in Peter Pan. Moreover, they’d\u00a0get\u00a0tangled\u00a0around my legs in bed.\u00a0At a bridal shower, flannel\u00a0nightgowns were called armor for new brides. \u00a0I heard that and\u00a0quickly switched to\u00a0SSS nightwear–short, silk and sexy.\u00a0Not only were those flimsy things\u00a0chilly, but they were hard to launder. Once I had\u00a0a baby\u00a0who woke up\u00a0several times each night, I needed something else to wear to bed.<\/p>\n

Fortunately, that was about the year that Ellie joined our family as my new sister in law.\u00a0She was one of the first women I knew who loved pajamas and always looked cute in them. That was years before she began The Pajama Company.<\/a> Yes, she’s a \u00a0woman who has\u00a0walked her talk for years–the pajama evangelist.\u00a0She\u00a0gave me a pair of pajama bottoms and I became a convert.<\/p>\n

Currently, my favorite pajamas are the ones I am wearing now, a pink plaid pair that was left here when my daughter moved out. I have a drawer\u00a0stuffed with\u00a0my own pajamas, but this pair hung alone on a hook in her bedroom when she left for college.\u00a0As I\u00a0straightened up her room, my emotions were in limbo between\u00a0tears and the elation of\u00a0an empty nest. I saw the\u00a0lonely PJs and remembered all the mornings\u00a0when I\u00a0was unable to\u00a0get her out of bed. They were\u00a0soft and smelled of her.\u00a0I paused on the way\u00a0to the laundry basket, wondering whether to launder them or retain her scent.<\/p>\n
