Meet The New Pajama Company Intern: Claire Hillgren

By Claire Hillgren, Admin & Social Media Intern

Editor’s Note: Claire Hillgren is our newest Pajama Company intern. You will see her around this Blog plus Facebook, Twitter, Polyvore, Tumblr, Instagram, and Pinterest. As always, we asked Claire to introduce herself to you by answering some very important Pajama Company questions.

Hi everyone! My name is Claire Hillgren and I am the newest Pajama Company intern! I am a senior at Miami University of Ohio, majoring in psychology and business. During this last semester of college, you can find me working throughout the Pajama Company site, blog and other social media outlets!
1. Describe your favorite pajamas.
My favorite pajama pants are these comfy jersey bottoms that are blue with snowflakes all over them. Even though they are meant for winter, I am guilty of wearing them all year round.
2. What would your perfect day look like?
My perfect day would be very relaxing and calm. It would be sunny and warm and I would probably spend it with my friends or family outside relaxing.
3. What was the last book you read?
The last book I read was Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins. It’s very Gone Girl-esque and so eerie and intriguing that I read it in one day. The only regret that I have is that I read it too fast.
4. What is your favorite TV show?
My favorite TV shows is actually the Today Show. I love sitting in my bed, drinking coffee and watching Kathy-Lee and Hoda discuss what happened the day before. It’s a great way to procrastinate going to class and I get to stay in my bed AND my pajamas longer.
5. What song is currently stuck in your head?
Currently, I hate to admit it, but Justin Bieber’s song Sorry will not stop playing in my head. Sorry!
6. What YouTube video are you watching over and over?
I know this is an old video, but Jimmy Kimmel telling parents to tell their kids that they ate all of their candy still makes me laugh every time.
7. Winter or Summer?
This is tough! I hate the cold but I also love to ski, so I think I’m going to have to choose winter! Being in the mountains is my favorite, especially when they are all covered in snow. It also helps that hot chocolate happens to be my favorite drink.
8. Stripes or plaid?
Plaid anything, anytime.

How to Create a Cozy Bedroom Retreat

by Becky Boyd, The Pajama Company Editor

I like to think of my bedroom as a mini sanctuary. It’s the one place I can go to be cozy and at ease, and forget about the stress of the day.

Your bedroom should feel luxurious and comfortable, and be your very own haven to unwind and recharge.

Here are some things to consider in creating a bedroom retreat you’ll love to relax in:

Decorate with Intention

Be thoughtful about your space. Choose calming and soothing colors over bold bright ones. It’s okay to have some colorful accents, but going for over all neutral colors will create a much more peaceful atmosphere.

Decorate with artwork and other objects that you find inspiring. Add a scented candle. If you have wood or tile floors, consider putting a rug beside or under your bed as a soft place for your feet to land.

Cozy Bedding

Buy the best bedding and pillows that you can. Choose sheets and blankets that are super soft and will wash well. It’s always a good idea to have an extra blanket or two around, just in case you get chilled during the night. A nap blanket at the end of the bed is my personal must-have!

Ditch the Technology

Reserve your bedroom as the place to settle down and chill out. As tempting as it is to bring them along, leave the laptop, cell phone, and TV for the other rooms of the house. Instead, keep stacks of your favorite books and magazines to read while you wind down for the night. If you insist on having a TV, find a place for it where it can be tucked aside so that its not the centerpiece of the room.

Keep the Chaos at Bay

Are you the type of person who ends up with half of your closet strewn about your bedroom by the end of the week? Or maybe you have baskets of clean clothes that just sit there for days, waiting for someone to put them away.

If you’re not in the habit of putting things away regularly, make a promise to yourself to spend just five minutes picking up each day. It will go a long way in keeping your bedroom clutter-free and feeling like a peaceful and relaxing space you intended it to be.

Pajamas

A cozy bedroom calls for some equally cozy PJs, of course!  Having just the right pajamas, a soft robe, and some comfy slippers will add just the perfect finishing touch!

Relax…unwind…and enjoy…

What’s your secret to a cozy bedroom space?

Day After Thanksgiving My Holiday Summary, Relaxing & Online Shopping!

by Amanda Palmer, The Pajama Company Editor

I hope everyone had a great holiday (both Thanksgiving and Chanukah) .

I had a great day, nothing better than starting a few new traditions with great friends, food, and fun. This year was a great and unusual Thanksgiving for me. I actually didn’t have to cook, clean or do anything that I normally do for my family, it felt strange. I have been away from my family for the past 3 weeks with just my 1 year old daughter to remind me of home. I am getting a little homesick and will be happy to be flying back the first week of December, but it has given me a chance to meet new people and experience new traditions.

One of the new traditions that I have learned was hanging out and lounging around in our pajamas most of Thanksgiving morning, my daughter enjoyed this and there is nothing better than letting your child lounge in pajamas that you know will keep them warm like our Lazy One Kids Unisex Chocolate Brown Moose Caboose Flapjack Pajamas, pair them with our Aroma Home Knitted “Dog” Slipper Socks and you have a very warm and cute child on your hands.

While my little one was playing around the house I completed the one task I had for the whole day. Peeling potatoes and rutabaga, the friend I am staying with right now is Swedish and one of her family recipes is mashed potatoes with rutabaga, which is very delicious and easy to make. Simply peel, cut and boil potatoes and rutabaga. Then drain and mash with butter, salt and milk and you have a yummy side dish that is also wonderful because your sneaking in extra veggies that the kids don’t know about.

We got dressed, visited family and had a fabulous dinner with friends. After a fun evening I could see my little one was getting sleepy so I knew when we got home I wanted to snuggle her down into cozy pajamas and put her to bed. Nothing says cozy like our Kids Big Feet Pajamas, once your toddler is nestled into this warm fleece one piece pajama there will be some really good sound sleeping.

This morning we woke up to a beautiful cold but sunny day and have taken it easy lounging around in our pajamas. For those of you with a warmer soul like me, I suggest the very cute and comfy Hatley Nature “Ruff Night” Pajama Pants and they pair well with the Women’s “Ruff Night” Nightshirt.
