The 5 Best Pajama Comfort Movies

pajamas, movies, comfort, the pajama company

Ever notice how some movies you watch and enjoy once, and then there are others you could watch a million times over? Whether it’s a movie that’s totally silly or touches our hearts – there are just some movies we can’t quite get enough of.

So pop the popcorn, grab your coziest blanket, and settle in for the long haul because here are five of our favorite “comfort” movies to watch over and over again!

Back to the Future

Who doesn’t love this classic movie in which Michael J. Fox goes back in time in his DeLorean time machine? (Hellloooo, McFly!) It’s a feel good movie and an all-time favorite rainy day go-to. There are actually two sequels, but the first one is really the best.

Emma

A delightful adaptation of the Jane Austin classic novel, set (of course) in the English countryside. Gwyneth Paltrow plays Emma, a self-appointed matchmaker who loves playing cupid for others, but fails to find a love interest of her own. A feel good movie with great cinematography that will draw you in again and again.

Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day

In this comedy, Frances McDormand plays the middle-aged governess, Guinevere Pettigrew, who finds herself unemployed and desperate for a job. She takes a job as the social secretary for a singer (Amy Adams) and finds her calling.  A cute movie with fun characters that you’ll want to watch over and over. And, the cool art deco style setting of the 1930’s is a bonus!

Toy Story

If you don’t know Toy Story, it’s a touching family movie about a boy named Andy and his toys, that’s well loved across generations. Action figure Buzz Lightyear and Woody the cowboy steal the show, in addition to Mr. Potato Head! What makes us watch this movie over and over? It’s a sweet story and even after many years, the animation is still really cool. And like Back to the Future, it’s a trilogy, so a perfect choice for a rainy Saturday movie marathon!

Wedding Crashers

Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson play two womanizing friends who regularly “crash” weddings to pick up girls. All is well and good until one of them actually falls for one of their conquests (played by Rachel McAdams). This movie is totally entertaining. There are so many funny lines which makes it one you have to watch again!

7 Awesome Sleepover Games

7 awesome sleepover gamesA good slumber party is all about great friends, yummy food and treats, favorite PJs, and of course, fun things to do!

Here are some of our favorite games to try out at your next sleepover!

Blindfolded Makeovers One person gets blindfolded and then does the make-up of the other person. The result is pretty funny! Have lots of good make-up remover on hand for this one!

Getting to Know You Game Each person gets a sheet of questions to answer about themselves, and then shares their answers with the group. Add questions like “what’s something you are afraid of” or “what’s your most embarrassing moment?” or “do you believe in ghosts?” for extra fun and laughs!

Musical Manicures Sit in a circle and pass a bunch of different nail polish colors around. When the music stops, each girl paints a nail with the color she has. Continue until all 10 finger nails are polished for a rainbow effect.

Toss & Talk Ball Similar to the “Getting to Know You Game”, but with a ball. Write all of the questions on a plastic beach ball. Toss the ball and the person to catch it answers the first question they see.

Murder Mystery Game A fun game of tag played in the dark. Victims must guess and identify the murderer! (Best for teenagers.)

Laser Maze Tape paper streamers across your hallway to form a maze, and then each person takes turns navigating their way through. Fun for hours!

Secrets Each person writes a secret or a fact about themselves and puts it in a big bowl. Players take turns pulling secrets out of the bowl and guessing who it belongs to. The person who gets the most right wins!

How about you – what are you favorite games to play at sleepovers? Tell us in the comments below!

A Grown Up’s Guide to Pajamas

grown up guide

Hopefully you’ve graduated from your well worn college t-shirts, beat up boxers and sweats, right? If not, no worries, there’s no pajama shame here.

But, be honest: is it time to upgrade your PJs? One of the benefits if adulting is that you get to treat yourself to cozy, comfy PJs that you love! We’re talking a proper pair of pajamas – the kind with matching tops and bottoms (or a onesie if you’re so inclined – more on that in a bit).

The bottom line is this: if you don’t have a real pair of pajamas as an adult, you’re totally missing out. Because being a grown up in jammies is kind of like a little slice of heaven.

Here are some of the grown up rules of pajamas, that we feel we must share:

Cozy is the name of the game. No weird flame-resistant fabric like when you were a kid. Adult PJs are all about cool cottons, soft jersey, snuggly flannel and cozy fleece. This is your relaxation uniform – your signal that the work day is done and it’s time to chill. This is the outfit that at times, you’ll wear all day long (see Pajama Days), so the key here is cozy.

Fancy or Fun, it’s your choice. People call you fancy pants? We know your type and we’ve got your number – you’re the classic PJ type. Or maybe you’re more of the light-hearted breed who loves fun patterns that show off your favorite hobby or your goofy sense of humor. We’ve got you covered as well, with a million options like here and here and here.

PJs say: “I like you”. Pajamas in a sense, are a form of self care. Buying yourself a great pair of PJs is like sending yourself a cozy love note. Think about it: you’ll feel good wearing them, and much more put together when you’re lounging all day. And, you’ll sleep better when you’re snug as a bug in your jammies. #pajamalove

Footies are still perfectly acceptable. Yes, you probably remember wearing them as a kid. And here’s the good news: footed pajamas come in a full range of adult sizes too! And, we think they’re best suited for an all-day Netflix binge watch, don’t you?

Pajamas + (insert favorite food & drink here) = the perfect match. Love comfort food like grilled cheese or a giant plate of nachos? Indeed, a match made in heaven. Syrup-covered waffle and bacon breakfast? Spot on. Pizza delivery? Surely. Wine, margarita, or maybe a hot toddy? Mmmm yes…the perfect compliment to your snazzy, soft PJs.

So there you have it, adult friends – get yourself a proper pair of pajamas and get your cozy on. And then consider it your license to laze!

Yoga for Better Sleep

yoga for sleepSometimes getting to sleep can be kind of difficult. You might toss and turn because your mind keeps racing thinking about the stressful day you just had or something you’re anticipating for tomorrow. Or maybe it’s something you can’t quite name, but you know your body is carrying tension and it’s keeping you from getting comfortable when it’s time to go to sleep.

Doing yoga before bed can be a great way to release physical tension. The meditative aspect of yoga can also help to calm your mind. The combination of yoga postures and breathing techniques help slow down your heart beat and relax your nervous system, which both contribute to better sleep.

So whether you’re having trouble getting to sleep or just want to improve the quality of your sleep, yoga before bed might be a great option for you. Get cozy in your favorite PJs and try one of these short yoga videos – each one is right around 10 minutes or less – to relax your mind and body.

Paris in Pajamas

Bedhead Women’s “Blue Eiffel” Nightshirt $114

Ahhh, Paris. The city of lights and chocolate croissants (avec le cafe, of course) and fashion and so many beautiful and delicious things. Parisians are known for their passion for life’s simple pleasures: enjoying food and life and friends.

We love Paris, but since we can’t always be there, we also like to think of it as a state of being. Kind of like Sabrina in this famous scene from the classic movie. Life with rose colored glasses or “la vie on rose” as the French say.

So why not add a little Paris to your PJs and cultivate the feeling of “la vie en rose”? Audrey Hepburn was known to have said, “Paris is always a good idea” and we totally agree.

So here’s to Paris in Pajamas!
