Fall Pajama Days: Watch, Read, Eat

If you like to get cozy, this is your season, friends. We are loving the cooler air, the change in the light, and the perfect reason to put on our PJs, get cozy, and call it a Pajama Day!

What we’re watching…

Narcos on Netflix – Surprisingly addicting, Narcos tells the story of Pablo Escobar and the 1990s Colombian cocaine wars. May not sound all that inticing at first, but it’s really a fascinating story. But, be ready for violence.  Check out the trailer here.

Frasier – Sure, you’ve already seen all of the episodes of this Cheers spin-off, but so fun to watch over and over again. Who can resist Eddie, the Jack Russell?!  A Badanes family binge-watch favorite! Stream on Amazon or just go ahead and buy the complete set.

Super Soul Sunday – As Oprah says, this inspirational show is “food for the soul”.  Oprah explores happiness, spirituality, and better living with various thought leaders and authors.  Watch on OWN or stream from Oprah.com.

We’re also looking forward to Homeland (10/4), Nashville (9/23), and a new season of House of Cards (late winter)!

What we’re reading…

Room by Emma Donoghue – Told from the perspective of 5 year old Jack, a boy who is held captive in an 11 x 11 room with his mom. Disturbing but thought-provoking.  And, soon to be turned into a movie.

The Dalai Lama’s Cat – A delightful view into Buddhism and the Dalai Lama…as seen by Snow Lion the cat.

Need a new book to get into and want a bargain? Head on over to Modern Mrs. Darcy for daily Kindle deals. You never know what you’ll find each day!

What we’re drooling over…

Homemade Pizza – Ellie, our founder is obsessed with homemade goat cheese pizza these days! She’s also loving Fresh Garden Tomatoes.  Slice them with mozzarella and smothered the plate with olive oil…yummy! Add a warm baguette with more olive oil…pure heaven!

Chili – It’s chili time, and this recipe from Martha Stewart that includes bacon does not disappoint.  (Note, you may need to spice it up a little more than what’s called for!)

Tea – Tea and our flannels…need we say more?  Check out some favorite fall teas here.

9 signs it’s time for new pajamas

1. Your spouse mistook them for a rag and accidentally washed his car with them.

2. Each time you put them on, your dog howls for no apparent reason.

3. In a pinch, they could easily stand in for a bag lady Halloween costume.

4. Curiously, your room mate always seems to be asking you “when’s the flood?” when you’re wearing them.

5.  They were a gift from your ex and let’s just say, it was a baaaaad break up.

6. You’ve stopped washing them for fear that they’ll disappear in the washing machine.

7. You’d absolutely DIE if someone actually saw you in them, and that includes the UPS man!

8. They are considered holey…and it’s got nothing to do with religion.

9. And, the most important one…you just plain old want to treat yourself to a new pair of pajamas!

Do any of these describe you?

If so, you’re in luck: we just received a whole bunch of fun new pajama styles including flannel for fall!  And, our entire sale collection is an additional 25% off now thru Sunday, Sept. 13th.  Use COZYSEPTEMBER at checkout.

5 Pajama Styles to Bring You into Fall

As the nights get a bit cooler, a pair of cotton or jersey PJs or pajama pants are a great way to transition into the new season.  We love cotton pajama sets because they can be easily mixed and matched: wear the pajama set on cooler nights, and change the long sleeve top out for a t-shirt or tank top when its warmer.

Cotton PJ pants can be worn the same way.  Wear with a t-shirt in summer and then when it gets colder, add a long sleeve t-shirt or your favorite cozy sweatshirt. Very versatile!

6 Ways to Everyday Relaxation

Relaxation isn’t something that should happen only when you’re on vacation. Ideally you should find time to relax each day – to reduce stress, lower your heart rate, quiet your mind, and to just plain ole’ feel good…as we like to say!

A great way to make sure you relax each day is to plan it out ahead of time.  A week ahead works really well: each Sunday take a few minutes a decide what you’ll do each day for the next week to relax, and when you’ll do it.

On days when you have more time, do something more involved like taking a long hike or going to the beach.  And on really busy days, squeeze in some time for something easier but equally calming.

Here are some relaxation ideas to add to your week:

1. Take a quiet walk.

Get out and listen to the birds and the sounds of nature.  Even if you don’t have trees or green space around you, being present and tuning into whatever surroundings you find yourself in – even the sounds of the city – can be incredibly relaxing.

2. Breathe.

Yes, so very simple.  Sit for a few minutes and take several slow, deep breaths.  We tend to breath in slower, shorter breaths when we are stressed out.  So taking deeper breaths, you’ll find youself feeling much more grounded and centered even after just a few minutes.

3. Take a cat nap.

It’s no secret that we think naps rule! Getting in a quick little cat nap is a fantastic way to unwind and de-stress.  We wrote all about naps here.

4. Sit and do nothing.

Find a quiet, soothing place.  A comfortable chair, or maybe a swing or hammock.  Sit for at least 5 minutes in silence, with no phone or other distractions.

5. Get a massage.

Not only do massages feel great, but they also help your body to rest and rejuvinate.  Regular massage therapy lowers stress levels, relaxes your muscles, decreases blood pressure, increases flexibility – and the list of benefits goes on!  We think it’s the perfect execuse to treat yourself…

6. Take a bath.

Soaking in a hot bath is a really easy way to ease tension and relax.  It’s a great way to calm yourself before bed.  Add some soothing music, a candle, and some aromatherapy, and create a little mini-spa experience right in your own home!
