How to Make Your Home Feel Cozy

1. Leave slippers by the door.

Slippers make you feel instantly warm and cozy the second you slip them on in the morning. Why not keep a pair by the door? That way you can kick off your uncomfortable work-approved footwear and slide into instant comfort.

2. Use soft lighting.

The right lighting can make all the difference! If you have a lot of intense, high-wattage bulbs that emit a severe bright light, consider replacing them with lower-wattage warm-toned lights when they burn out. The difference will make your home feel more like a warm, cozy den and less like an office space.

1. BYOB

Bring your own bathrobe, that is. Encourage everyone to wear clothes they can truly lounge in (think ultrasoft pajama pants) and their fluffiest, coziest bathrobe and slippers. Slipping into a relaxed state of mind starts with the clothes we wear. When you go to a spa, you are provided with a robe and encouraged to wear soft, loose-fitting clothing. Tidy up your living room so everything looks neat and decluttered with a minimalist spa feel. Hide knick knacks and run the vacuum. Let’s face it, the basic dorm room can be a bit dreary and really not so cozy.  So before you head off to college, we want to make sure you have the essentials for a comfy-cozy dorm room!

Here are 5 essentials to make your dorm room extra cozy:

1. Bedding

Comfortable sheets, blankets, and a comforter are essential, of course!  Be sure to pick cotton sheets that are soft and not stiff. You’ll thank yourself during those late night study sessions.

And here’s a tip: check with your school to see if what size bed will be in your room.  Many college dorms have extra-long twin beds.
